At the same time, there are complicated educational and social landscapes, including the prevalence of individualism and consumerism, the constant antagonism between tradition and modern order, the shrinking and ageing population , the coexistence of diploma inflation and academicism, and the hot topic of gender. The constant conflict between performance and personal well-being is also constantly affecting everyone's body and mind.

The Fifth Beijing Normal University Forum on Sociology of Education, with the theme of "Body, Mind and Self: Chinese Education in the Context of Modernity", is open to domestic and foreign higher learning institutions, scientific research institutions, and colleagues from all walks of life to solicit academic papers and reports. In addition to the main forum and sub-forums, this forum will continue to feature youth forums in which young students are warmly welcome to participate.
